Project Z
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android
What is Project Z ?
In Project Z, You are Vincent, an artist and terminally ill cancer patient turned survivor in the aftermath of Project Z, a world now overrun by zombies where every day is a battle for survival.
In this game, you'll navigate through an open world filled with danger at every corner. Here's what you'll be doing:
- Crafting: Use scavenged materials to create tools, weapons, and shelters. From basic spears to complex fortifications, your survival depends on your ability to craft.
- Levelling Up: Through your survival efforts, you gain experience, not just in combat but in skills like crafting, fishing, and farming, improving your abilities and unlocking new ways to survive.
- Fishing: Utilize your skills to catch fish for food or to trade. Fishing spots are scattered around, providing a peaceful, yet strategic, break from the chaos.
- Growing Vegetables: Establish a small garden or farm to grow your own food. Agriculture becomes a critical aspect of your long-term survival strategy, offering sustainable nutrition amidst the scarcity.
- Hunting Animals: In the wild, track and hunt animals for food and resources. Each creature offers different benefits, from meat to hides for clothing or crafting.
- Merchant Interaction: Find or establish trade with merchants who roam the ruins or have set up makeshift markets. Buy essential items, sell your surplus, or trade for unique gear.
- Guns: Discover and maintain firearms for defense against both zombies and hostile survivors. Ammunition is scarce, making every shot count in this harsh world.
- Looting: Explore abandoned buildings, vehicles, and ruins. Looting provides you with resources, weapons, and sometimes, unexpected allies or enemies.
- Treasure Chests: Stumble upon or be led to treasure chests by clues or maps. These contain rare items, powerful weapons, or survival gear that can give you a significant advantage.
Vincent's journey is not just about surviving from day to day; it's about using his artistic vision to see beauty in the chaos, his creativity in crafting to build a new life, and his resilience to keep going despite the terminal cancer he battles. Your goal is to carve out a life in this post-apocalyptic world, one where art, survival, and humanity intertwine.
STORY :
Vincent slumped against the cold, hard wall of his studio, the echo of the gunshot still ringing in his ears, mingling with the haunting silence that followed. The world outside was dying, consumed by the aftermath of Project Z, but the true devastation lay within the walls of his home, where moments ago, he had done the unthinkable.
His son, Liam, had been everything to him—a source of joy, a reflection of his own youth, and now, a memory that would forever haunt his dreams. The infection had taken him swiftly; the boy who once laughed at the colors of his father's paintings now stood with vacant eyes, his skin a ghastly shade of gray.
Vincent had seen it coming, the way Liam's laughter had turned into a cough, the fever that wouldn't break. He had hoped, prayed for a miracle, but the world had none to offer. When Liam, driven by the infection, lunged at him, Vincent's heart broke, not from the fear of death, but from the love he still harbored for his son.
The gun felt alien in his hand, a tool of creation turned into one of destruction. He remembered the last brush stroke he had made, a vibrant orange for the sun in the painting they were creating together. Now, his hand shook not from the disease eating away at him but from the unbearable decision he had to make.
"Liam," he whispered, tears streaming down his face, "I'm so sorry."
The shot was fired out of love, not hate, a mercy in a world where mercy seemed to have vanished. The echo was not just of the gunshot but of a father's heart shattering into a million irreparable pieces.
The studio, once filled with life, now felt like a tomb. Vincent's cancer diagnosis seemed trivial in comparison to the pain that now resided within him. He had killed his son not to survive but to spare him a life as one of the undead, a life where his vibrant spirit would be nothing more than a hollow shell.
In his grief, Vincent had wandered out, leaving the studio behind, driven by a need to escape, to find something, anything that could ease the ache in his soul. Hours turned to days, and the familiar streets of his city became a labyrinth of loss and desolation. The landmarks he knew, the corners where he had once sat to sketch, all were gone, replaced by destruction, by the moaning of the undead.
Lost in this new, unrecognizable world, Vincent found himself at the edge of what used to be the city park, where he had taken Liam to watch the kites dance in the sky. But now, there was no sky, only dark clouds and the distant sound of chaos.
His body, weakened by cancer and sorrow, gave out, and he collapsed, looking up at the sky he could no longer see. The tears mixed with the rain, or perhaps it was just the rain, but in his heart, they were tears for all he had lost. As he lay there, he felt the world closing in, not just from the zombies but from his own body failing him.
And then, a figure approached through the mist, not staggering like the undead, but moving with purpose. Vincent, his vision blurring, could only make out the silhouette.
"Vincent?" a voice, familiar yet distant, called out to him.
His heart, already so broken, felt a flicker of something—hope? fear? He couldn't tell. The figure came closer, and just as consciousness slipped from him, Vincent whispered, "Is that you...?"
